I am an adaptive customer with a brain injury. The phone access is not ADA compliant. I have spent on average, 20 minutes trying to get to talk with a real person. Not from waiting for a person, but trying to get to where I have to wait for a person. I continually get hung up on by the computer.

I have been applied for the social security number last month 5/24, but I still not received my SSN, how to check what is the current status of my application.

I lost my social security card last year , we moved from California to Boise and need a replacement card but after doing everything I was instructed to do online the instructions said I would need to make an appointment at the Boise office. I’ve been on the phone all day and after an hour of music and tones I’m now getting a constant ringing with no one picking up my call, I’ve had this same thing happen last month only to be disconnected after an hour of trying and waiting.

Been trying to get a replacement card for a year. Office is closed and phone just gives you a busy signal. Have tried online but get error message and will not process. Downloaded form to mail in with copies of drivers license and birth certificate to only get a letter 6 weeks later stating social security can't use a photo copy of ID. Can't get military ID without card so here I am in limbo.....open the office.

Since I have a representative payee, my case manager has been trying to help me change my address, as nearly five months after moving it remains the wrong address. Each time we call, there's some new information my case manager, who is not a member of the supervisory team at Human Supports, does not have access to that is needed. Each time we ask what is the full details we will need and each time they fail to provide us with some detail. It's like playing Cluedo. Not only that, but it continues to be impossible to tell how to become my own payee, since I chose to use payee services when I needed some extra help managing money. One time we called the main service line, they refused to let my case manager speak until I provided my security details, including social security number. The next time, they refused to speak to me until my case manager provided those same details, which her organization does not allow her to store, and which I am not comfortable sharing. Every time I call they treat me like I am mentally unfit, rather than a person who struggles with severe anxiety and depression which are compounded by autism spectrum disorder. I plan on going in now that offices are open, despite the obvious risk, because it is impossible to reach a local representative on the phone, or to request a call-back; I can't access my online portal due to having a new phone number AND all requests to change it being sent to my previous address; and this seems the only way to solve this mess. If they require my case manager to be there with me, despite attempting to limit exposure due to, I don't know, a global pandemic, then I'm not sure what to do then. Hopefully someone who actually knows how this works will finally be able to help me.

Have been trying to call for 3 days about every 15 minutes. It always says all lines are busy. There should be an option to have someone call you back.

My mother passed away yesterday and I want to be able to cancel her social security payments before they pay again in May. Please let me know what to do in order to get this cancellation processed. I do have Power of Attorney that I can provide as well. Thanks in advance.

Can I make an appointment to sign up for my retirement benefits through this message? I have an ex-husband that I was married to over 10 years and would like to apply for his benefits. Not sure if I can do that online. Please give me a time that I can come in or let me know if I have to call. Thank you, Colleen Wilt

Trying to find out the status of my Social Security application.

  12. Jul 1, 2019

I applied for benefits on April 17,2019. I was supposed to receive my first benefit check on June 12, 2019 to my bank account via direct deposit. It never happened. I Have spoken to (5) different people in your office who have told me that; 1. My mailing address was wrong, (it is not) 2. My Direct Deposit account number was wrong,( it is not, I verified it with my bank) 3. I was told it is the banks fault, (the bank has my account number right, again verified) 4. Your office confirmed that they had my direct deposit number off by one number, which we corrected last week. Every time I talk to someone, they tell me, 'wait another 3 to 5 days'. Well folks, I have waited from June 15th through July 1st and this issue still isn't resolved. I now have creditors crawling about, which I have never, ever had happen in my life. I have medical bills that require payment. Please get this resolved- If not, I'm going to file a complaint with the IG.
