Don't bother trying to call. I call 3 times this morning, waiting thru the 'wait' music only for the line to go silent and then hand up after 10-15 minutes each time. Totally useless. Let they tell you not to just come in without an appointment.

My in-laws are quite elderly and needing someone to take over their finances (both are over 90). They will be establishing Power of Attorney soon - with me acting on their behalf. I understand that Social Security does not recognize Power of Attorney - and instead I need to be established as 'Advance Designee'. My assumption in that role - is that I can have their monthly checks sent to a consolidated bank account - so I'd change their deposit instructions. So I'm just inquiring as to HOW to 1) Establish me as Advance Designee - 2) how to redirect their checks to a consolidated account......

I have been in this office it's not like the office in Salina Kansas, there they are polite and the listen to you before they interject their opinion or the correct answer. To me a government official should be more polite and at least try to answer you correctly. They need to understand there is a real reason that people go into their office, be more polite and understanding towards their fellow man.
