We too have been victimized by the 'NO ANSWER' Melbourne office. We got hung up on after waiting 18 minutes on hold! They tell you to call to make an appointment-but they NEVER answer the phone so that you can, Just terrible!

After waiting on hold for 20 minutes for the Melbourne office to make an appointment for a duplicate Social Security card, whomever answered hung up on me right after I said what I needed. When I call 1-800-772-1213 a recording says the call cannot be completed at this time, call again during normal business hours. Very unsatisfactory. Lousy service.

The Melbourne office NEVER answers ... I called in 8 times today *8/4/2022) alone to have a note put on my deceased parents' file to recoup the funds they sent to her bank so that the bank can unlock the estate account as they have not done that yet ...and have been given the biggest run around on the planet and told only Melbourne can do this because of the address they have on file ...yet every time I call I have yet to reach a Melbourne representative and bounced to another FL office who say that only Melbourne can do it! SHAMEFUL at best... and I am young...what happens to the older folks who experience this frustration and how many have had a heart attack over this...I'll bet it's many!

Seems Social Security is late getting funds out to recipients. Is anyone else still waiting for benefits?

It is absolutely ridiculous that you can never get through to any social security office. Every time I call I get put on hold and then I get disconnected. I call my local office, I can't get a return call. I can't even talk to anyone, I'm put on hold. I am blaming it as a whole up in Pennsylvania that they don't have a better way of handling these calls.

Your phone number isn't working and the office is closed ... just how do you expect to serve the public?

  8. Mar 8, 2022

I’ve called 40 times at least to reach Melbourne Fl SS office. Sometimes waiting on hold up to an hour only to then be hung up on. I have prompted through all I can do online. I need to make an appointment and/ or speak to someone in the Melbourne office.

My case worker doesn't update anything and penalizes me for it and sets ridiculous deadlines and doesn't contact me back in time. What am I supposed to do from my end, I am the payee so I can't even use the online account to correct her errors.

I visited the Melbourne office this morning and overall found it to be professional and efficient. My problem was referred to Miss Lewis, and I was very pleased with her understanding of my problem, her proficiency and above all, her friendly and pleasant attitude. Some time ago I had read some comments re the Melbourne office that were less than complementary but my visit this morning dispelled that idea. Thanks again Miss Lewis for your help.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with the Melbourne Office since May. I applied for SSI because I am legally blind and they processed all of my information with ease. My application was approved November 7th but is now stuck in the black hole called Social Security Quality Review. This black hole sucks up 1 out of every 100 people no matter if you are approved or denied. After calling both the regional and Melbourne offices no body seems to be able to give me any more information about how long my file will be floating in this empty realm of darkness. I am legally blind, one step from getting evicted and every single one of my bills are past due 3 times over because I can't work and public assistance is not real assistance. I know this state of limbo is not the Melbourne office's fault but I would surely love some real information about how long this will take and I would actually like to get the contact phone number for the office who has my file at this time but I was told they couldn't give that out even though the SS website says all i have to do is ask. I mean come on it's really simple, read one paper that states I am legally blind and pass me back to the local office so they can process my non-medical and my family isn't out on the streets for Christmas. Just spent 1/2 hour on the phone speaking with Ms. Quintero concerning my late application for SS benefits. I had a complicated past with a legal name change and other issues. This lady was very courteous and cordial but above all she was very helpful in getting me enrolled. I had checked with others and was told that it would be a difficult process since I had these problems. If our government had more officials with her ability and understanding, we would all be much better off when dealing with the various agencies. She immediately puts you at ease and efficiently walks you through the process and makes the experience very positive. I was, needless to say, very impressed with her. She needs to be running the place. Thank you
