I had the pleasure to be helped by Ms Amber at window F, today. Amber has renewed in me faith that SSA is not all bad. I have had ongoing issues, today I truly was given good information. I am most grateful for her knowledge, and ability to share it with me, she is a valuable representation for SSA. With Appreciation, Ellenorr.

I’m trying to contact you to create an appointment and I always try to get in touch with my local office in Port Orange Florida and it seems as if there’s is no way to get in touch with anybody.

I just got married and was looking forward to changing my name. Not just because I want to, but Florida requires I update my drivers license and I need to change my banking and credit cards. The social security office want me to mail them my ORIGINAL drivers license and hope that I get it back in 2-4 weeks. I informed them that it was against the law for me to drive without my drivers license and that I would get a ticket if I were caught, their response was that they didn’t care. How screwed up is it that the Social Security office wants me to violate the law in order to get my name changed. Can’t believe they still have a job getting paid to do nothing.

We've had an ongoing issue with SSA since 2018 regarding an overpayment. Have tried to meet with ANYONE from any SSA office to no avail. Now they say they will withhold my check if I don't repay the amount of the overpayment. We have now enlisted the aid of our State Representative for assistance. Five letters from SSA with 5 different amounts, and 28 errors on my record and still no one will meet with us. Terrible, service they are doing for the elderly. Businesses are open, churches are open, restaurants are open etc etc. and yet they will still not meet in person. What ever happened with plastic shields, masks, etc.

I waited until was over 70+1/2 to collect SS. I've been waiting nearly 2 months to collect my 1st. 6 month pmt. I have left several messages including fax and voice mails. I need those funds ASAP. I have asked several lawyers to consider lawsuits. I want to know the pay date. I sent the direct deposit info over 10 days ago! Send me an email. Mark London, xxx-xx-6722

Just got off the phone with an agent as I’m need a copy of my award letter from 2010 for insurance reasons and the lady told me they are all working from home and have no printers and she had no way of getting me this information! Ok I can not get this information off line and you guys can’t provide me with it? Come on now how do you do an office job at home and not have the equipment needed to preform your job duties?

Why does trying to get in touch with someone at the social security office always a pain? I mean it should not be so hard!

  11. Mar 4, 2021

Easy to fax. I attempted to also input online; I don’t know if you received it or not. So, this may be a second form. Thank you!

I have made multiple attempts to fax documents (SS Wages) to the Port Orange office and they have not gone thru the past few months.

I recently had a background check. Two names appear to be associated with my social security number in error. How do I fix this issue?

  15. Dec 17, 2020

A short time ago I waited on the phone to speak with an SS rep the lady asked me what I needed and i explained that I had not received my form SSA-4926-SM for the upcoming year but that my wifes form came around the 25 of November and that our forms usually came at approximately the same time. I explained that this has never occured before that our forms were not received at approximately the same the previous years. I called the main offices of SS and was told to call the branch office near me and that I could have a duplicate form sent that was the rep I spoke to ,that option was not offered by the Port Orange branch ,the answer I was given was that the form was running late this year ,and that is why I called the branch, my wifes is in her possession as I write this. I have a strong feeling mine may have gotten lost in the mail due to past history with Palm Coast mail 32164 area code so I guess all I will due is wait and see!

This office is full of NEANDERTHALS!!! Please get your heads out of where the sun doesn't shine. How difficult it is to change a last name on a social security card? what do they just hire any bum of the streets to work here? I am so sick of your incompetence!!! How many times does it take to change A LAST NAME on a social security card when I have provided you with all ORIGINAL documents but you keep returning all the documents back to me telling me that you need ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS??? that's what I have been doing all three times!!! oh, I know what it is you need NON original copies to finally get this whole thing situated!!!!!!!

Do I need to bring a certificate of death to apply for the widows pension?

  23. Nov 13, 2019

It is poor customer service to not allow more things processed or communicated between an U.S. citizen and a Social Security agent. The agents , as personally known, at the Social Security office answer their direct phones at about 1 out of 30 times.

  24. Apr 15, 2019

I need to set up an appointment to discuss benefits and set up my SS distributions. I will turn 62 on August 22, 2019 and want to start benefits.

  25. Mar 15, 2019

SS Website Need some Work, their is no place on your site to report that you are working and to report that you're on disability also.

  26. Apr 10, 2018

Most disrespectful government employees I've ever had to deal with. The supervisor is probably more rude, disrespectful and unempathetic than her subordinates. They are a direct representation of her disgusting attitude. Attempted to file a complaint and was treated worse by her for speaking up about her employee.

  27. Mar 13, 2018

This Port orange office is uneducated in the matters of marriage and name change! My wife attended the office to get her last name changed and the window B lady told her that she was required to have a middle name. My wife never had a middle name before she was married and this lady decided to REQUIRE her to create one. She told her that it is required and if she didn't want to make one up to use her maiden name as the required middle name entry.' This caused many issues. An upcoming LLC and tax ID was based on the first and last name only. This lady and all workers need to get educated on the matter. Next when my wife went BACK to get it fixed the lady denied having done it! This isn't the first time in an office that this has happened. While there another patron gave an experience in Virginia where they too caused HIS wife to create a middle name. THIS MUST STOP. Middle names are NOT required for Social Security Numbers PERIOD.

I need to pay back SS for a direct deposit made in her checking account for January as she passed in December. May I just drop off the check at your office or make an appointment without having to wait. Thank you, Clyde Hughes
