I called the Social Security Office in San Bernardino City. The recording informed me that it would take about 15 minutes to speak to a representative. Okay, I waited. In the meantime the call went through the cycle to pick up the call, only to put me back on hold without ever speaking to a representative. That action happened about 6 or more times. I know that more than likely there will never be a response to my concern, but I too am someone’s mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I worked over three decades and paid into Social Security. We deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. You all have to do better.

What horrible service. This morning I phoned to conduct some minor 'business.' A recording said it would be an '8-minute wait.' or I could have a call back. So, I chose the call back. When SSA phoned and I said 'hello' the call was disconnected. In a frustrated state, I phoned SSA and chose to 'wait' with this call. The recording said it would be an 10-minute wait. That was an hour ago. When the music stopped the call was disconnected yet again. Nonetheless, if I make a mistake with some policy rule of SSA and Medicare I am charged money as a penalty. Why don't we charge SSA for their incompetence? I'm sorry to say this, but our tax dollars are wasted on such an incompetent organization and its staff. It is a disgraceful government organization. Imagine if business operated like SSA? Perhaps SSA should take lessons from successful businesses. What a mess!

WHEN A WIDOW CALLS YOU AND ASKS WHAT IS TO BE DONE REGARDING HER RECENTLY DECEASED HUSBAND AND YOU INSTRUCT HER TO TAKE PPWRK TO THE 'DROP OFF OFFICE' AND FAIL TWICE TO LET HER KNOW THE OFFICE IS CLOSED FOR ABSOLUTELY NO HOLIDAY OR REASON. THEN SHE GOES BACK ONE MORE TIME ONLY TO BE TOLD THE PPWRK NEEDS TO BE IN A SEALED ENVELOPE! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHY DID YOU NOT INSTRUCT HER THE FIRST TIME? FORTUNATE I WAS NOT WITH HER. EVERY ONE OF YOU SHOULD BE FIRED AND FIND AN REAL JOB. DESPICABLE WHAT YOU DO TO THE ELDERLY PEOPLE.

The workers in this office (San Bernardino) have a permanent chip on their shoulders. The people who work in this office act as if your an inconvenience for even contacting them. I hope I never have to deal with this office again. The people have extremely dry demeanor talk as if you are a common criminal, and don't enjoy their jobs very well. Maybe if you don't like dealing with the public, it's time to start seeking a job elsewhere.

I received a letter on 2 separate occasions for phone interviews and never received the calls from him- after each appointment dates and time I called the number listed in the letter to reach him but the extension listed shows my old case worker name.

The 800 number does not let you make appointments at the San Bernardino office. It says there is no local number to call for this office. There is another number which they do not tell you about, 866 331 7132. I called and was put on hold for 15 minutes and then disconected. Twice. I dialed an extension and left a voice message and have not received a return call. I am trying to set up a appt for my blind and disabled brother to obtain a replacement SS card. This is an example of very poor customer service. Mike Warren
